Explore our complete range of microwaves that combine with wall ovens to find the perfect fit for your home. Make sure you read the cutout specifications and installation guide for the model you select to ensure it works in your space. Our microwave and oven combos include both microwave and oven models in a variety styles, colors and finishes that will match any decor. Look for features like smart and convenient controls as well as a power cook feature and a built in microwave for wall unit-in self-cleaning feature to save you time.

Convenience

A built in microwave stainless steel in microwave oven combo can free up counter space in your kitchen and add a sleek appearance to your kitchen. Since it functions as a microwave and traditional oven it can cook leftovers, frozen foods and pre-packaged meals all in one appliance. It eliminates the need for separate countertop appliances or bulky wall ovens. If you are looking to upgrade your home without having to do major remodeling, a microwave and a convection oven is a great choice.

There are microwave oven combos in a variety of designs to fit the decor of your kitchen. Some have a left-to-right swing-out door, while others feature a drop-down style that opens in the same manner as an ordinary oven. You can also find microwave ovens with the drawer design that opens as cabinets. Microwave drawers are easily reached and are great for small space.

Combination microwaves also have various features that can simplify meal preparation and make it more convenient. For instance, some models come with a sensor steam cycle that automatically adjusts the time and temperature of your food items to ensure you receive perfectly steamed veggies and fish. Other features include a broil feature that allows you to quickly melt cheese or cook your favorite food, as well as Crispwave(tm) technology that can grill, bake and crisp foods.

When choosing a microwave oven combination, you should consider how often you'll use each function. If you'll use the oven more than the microwave, you may prefer an extra wall oven. It's also important to note that a combo oven typically has less capacity than a conventional standalone oven.

Once you've selected the best microwave and oven combination for your needs, it's time to think about how you will install it. Over-the-range models mount over the stove or cooktop and plug into an electrical outlet, while built-in microwaves can be plugged directly into the walls or cabinets of your kitchen. Certain models come with trim kits to ensure that your new microwave is in line with the cabinets you already have.

Energy Efficiency

They can save cabinet space that would otherwise be occupied by two separate appliances, and they can also help to reduce energy usage. They typically offer the most efficient cooking method than traditional wall ovens because they use less energy. They can also be used to cook food and warm food items. This reduces the need for other appliances like toasters or warming plates.

When evaluating possible amendments to energy conservation standards, DOE conducts several analyses, including assessment of technology and market conditions, screening analysis, engineering analysis and national impacts analysis (NIA). In this SNOPR DOE will draw on its engineering analysis of microwave ovens to determine what level of efficiency improvement is feasible for this particular product.

In the engineering analysis, DOE will compare the design parameters of a microwave against a set of energy performance goals. The engineering analysis will then determine the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that is technologically feasible based on the most advanced microprocessor-controlled model available on the market or in working prototypes, or the maximum reduction in energy consumption that is technically achievable with the current technologies available for this product class.

As part of NIA, DOE will assess the impacts on consumers, including the lifecycle cost savings, and simple payback time (PBP). DOE will utilize its Government Regulatory Impact Model with an adaptation for microwave ovens to calculate the industry's net present value ("NPV").

DOE will also examine the impact on manufacturers and will use a modified industry cash flow model that is adapted to this product type to calculate manufacturing NPV. Finally, DOE will consider the potential impact on small business manufacturers and other subgroups of manufacturers to identify any that may be affected in a different way by these proposals.

DOE will also examine whether the test procedure for microwave ovens needs to be revised to include active mode power consumption and an energy use measurement. The current tests only provide standby mode power usage.

Design

Microwaves generate heat by causing water molecules to vibrate in food. Wall ovens rely upon the circulation of hot air while microwaves rely on waves to cause food molecules to vibrate. Combination wall ovens combine two distinct appliances into a single unit that can be used to save kitchen space and provides a sleek, modern aesthetic. But you need to carefully consider your goals and budget before investing in a combo wall oven. Some of the combination ovens we rated have design or performance issues.
